The 89th minute is a blog where I will share my thoughts on football. I will also give some introductions to some of the more obscure teams and leagues throughout the world.
Football has always been a passion of mine and I watch as much as I possibly can. I take interest in leagues all across the world from Russian 2nd division games to the Peruvian top division. While some of the quality is dire, and I think even at this stage I could get a game in a few of the leagues, I still enjoy watching them.
I've loved football since I was a child and can't give an exact time as to when I fell in love with it, it has just always been there. It has been probably been the one constant in my life. I don't take particular interest in the tactical side of the game, I'll be honest now and say I don't think my knowledge of systems and tactics is particularly vast, it extends to having read Inverting the Pyramid.
As well as the obvious excitement that the game brings I am also interested in the in the sociopolitical side of football and the effects it has on society and the ways that it can be used by those in power to influence society. The 1978 World Cup in Argentina was a great example of a government using people's passion for football to rally a nationalist sentiment.
All comments are welcome on any of the posts that I make so I hope that they will generate some discussion.
